I always recognised that exercise needs to be a part of a healthy lifestyle, however after leaving school and leaving all the sports behind I just struggled to incorporate it into my day and commit myself to it for the long-term.
The difficulties I experienced in previous years were finding a fitness regime that was tailored for me, one that had a real purpose, and the potential to make me feel good. One which I could track and see results, varied and which kept pushing my limits so that I could continue to improve. It also needed to include the fun factor, and that always seemed to be non-existent which made it all that more of an effort to incorporate it into my day. P10 has positively changed my perspective on exercise and provides all of the above and more.
I tried a number of things before p10. Traditional gyms, including their fitness classes, dance and bootcamp style fitness classes. Never for very long though, after a few sessions I would usually give up, due to getting injured, or through boredom. The classes were not tailored for me, I remained anonymous in class, and I felt that the main focus of these classes was mainly to lose weight to wear smaller sized clothes (obviously, this can still be a benefit) and very little focus on the long-term health benefits of exercise or how to progress. They also failed to provide a holistic approach to fitness so that every aspect of your health is considered and I feel this is emphasised and encouraged at p10. There are definitely many more important reasons as to why exercise is important and not just about aesthetics as I have learned and experienced personally through starting my own fitness journey at p10.
My fitness and strength continue to increase week by week, and there has been a 5% decrease in my body fat. I am more mobile and flexible than before. I’ve learned so many new skills which can constantly be improved and refined. I feel like I’ve come a long way seeing as in my first session I had difficulty sitting down in a squat and after 2 minutes on the rower I was ready to go home.
The best part is belonging to an awesome community. It is a really welcoming, supportive and inspiring space where you can meet people from all corners of the world. The coaches get to know you as a person, they really have your best interests in mind, and always strive to make the classes tailored to your needs. They know how to push you and never let your efforts go unnoticed. If you’ve never got on with exercise previously then p10 has the capacity to change that.
As a result of training, I just feel so much happier in myself both physically and mentally. I’ve never experienced the endorphin release during my previous exercising efforts and always wondered what all the fuss was about. But now I’ve experienced it through training at p10 and it’s pretty good and worth all the effort.
It’s a great way to learn about your body more and how to look after it better so that you experience optimum levels of health.
I have also noticed my mindset is changing to become more positive. The challenges that I face whilst training has helped me to realise that I am capable in overcoming those and achieving my goals in the gym, which can also be applied to other commitments in my life.
I definitely recommend p10. It’s fun, it’s supportive, it’s challenging. The lifts, the movements, the skills and techniques involved can be worked on continuously so you are always learning and getting better. It’s hard to get bored.
If you have the urge to get started, sign up and just get involved regardless of your fitness level – everybody is welcome. When I started, I had little experience of the fitness industry and no Crossfit experience. I was doing no exercise, was really unfit and with little strength and it was never a problem. The coaches always scaled the workout down so that I could work out safely and be challenged at my level. Coming into it from the place I was at just makes you more inspired by everyone else which pushes you to keep going until you start doing what you thought you will never be able to do.
I’m really pleased I found p10 and decided to become a member there. Through the support of the community, I have been able to find that love for exercise again and can now enjoy all the health benefits that come along with this. I’m really looking forward to seeing what else I can achieve as I continue on this new fitness journey.Thank you to everyone at p10 because I really would not be still going if it wasn’t for the support everyone provides there.
